AMRITSAR: Guru Nanak Dev University on Wednesday appointed Dr Inderjit Singh as Registrar for a period of four years.
Dr Inderjit Singh is principal of Guru Nanak Khalsa College in Ludhiana. It is after a gap of almost 20 years that GNDU has appointed a Registrar from outside. Dr Jagjit Kaur has been appointed as Director Youth Welfare of the university.
These decisions were taken in the Syndicate meeting of GNDU, presided over by Vice Chancellor Dr A.S. Brar.
GNDU had not given extension to Dr RS. Bawa, who was its Registrar for nearly a decade, a couple of months back. Thereafter, Dr Raghubir Singh was holding additional charge.
Elated over his selection, Dr Inderjit Singh said, “My priority will be to perform my duties with dedication.”
Dr Jagjit Kaur has taught in the local BBK DAV College and was also principal of Guru Har Rai Sahib College in Chabbewal.
The university accorded approval for cancellation of BCA Part-I paper of Computer Organization and BBA Part-II paper of Punjab History and Culture held on April 28 this year at the Kamal Institute of Higher Education and Advanced Technology, New Delhi, due to mass copying by students.
The Syndicate also took a serious note of the use of large scale unfair means during the examination held at Trinity Institute of Management and Technology, New Delhi, and gave approval for cancellation of the examinations. It also approved the thesis of 20 candidates for the award of Ph.D degrees.
