Amritsar, March 21
BABA AMRIK Singh will not supervise ‘kar sewa’ of planting saplings around Harmandar Sahib, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has decided.
The Dharam Parchar Committee convened here today, with SGPC president Avtra Singh Makkar in the chair, and took the decision.
It was in its last meeting that the panel had allotted ‘kar sewa’ to Baba Amrik Singh who faces a criminal case and is presently out on bail.
He was expelled by the Dera Kar Sewa of Jagtar Singh, Tarn Taran, over embezzlement charge a couple of years ago. The SGPC has also criticized the incident in which the hair of four Sikhs was shorn by miscreant at Sohlapur in Maharasthra and will dispatch a team.
The committee has urged Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to take up the burning of a gurdwara at London, a hate crime, with the UK Government.
