Amritsar, July 14
The Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) infrastructure is coming in way of completion of Amritsar-Attari road four-laning.
TLSC, a wing of PSEB, has not removed high-tension wires and poles, which is hampering the road widening work, even as it has received the requisite money from the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).
The Rs 195-crore Amritsar Attari four-laning project, which took off last year, has been affected due to the alleged lax attitude of the Transmission Line Serving and Construction (TLSC).
While driving down the Amritsar-Attari road, electricity poles and wires can be seen standing on the widened road.
Project director, NHAI, S.R. Tholia said, “We have made entire payment of Rs 1.4 crore to TLSC in three installments, yet the work of shifting power infrastructure is very slow. I have surveyed the road and only 10 per cent of the work has been completed till now.” Given the present circumstances, the entire four-laning project can get delayed, the deadline for which is 2010, he said.
“We will take up the matter at the government level,” he added.
NHAI had faced a similar problem in the Amritsar Jalandhar four-laning project, as PSEB did not react in time to shift its infrastructure.
Border Range Chief Engineer, PSEB, Rajeev Kumar, said, “TLSC is an independent wing of PSEB. We just supervise the work.”
TLSC officials could not be contacted.
