GNDUAmritsar, July 12

A gaffe by Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) has led to the postponement of a state-level B.Ed entrance test at the eleventh hour, affecting thousands of candidates.

GNDU was supposed to hold the test on Sunday (July 12), but citing unspecified “technical reasons”, it announced on Saturday that the exam stood postponed. A fresh date would be given later, likely to be this month itself.

According to official sources, as per the notification of the state government, the format of the entrance exam had to be changed, but the GNDU authorities had gone with the old style. The university authorities noticed the inconsistency on Saturday evening.

The question papers were to be printed in two languages, Punjabi and English, but only one had been incorporated.

Thousands of candidates were to take the exam for admission in various education colleges in Punjab affiliated to Guru Nanak Dev University, Punjab University (Chandigarh), Punjabi University (Patiala) and Lovely Professional University (Phagwara) for the 2009-10 sessions.
