Kirti Kissan Union activists on Friday blocked traffic in Ajnala for two hours to protest the setting up of a private solar power plant at Ahwan, 50 km from here. Hundreds of farmers gathered at the bus stand of Ajnala to mark their protest against Azure Power Ltd. They criticized the state government for giving their land to a private company and demanded the cancellation of the land lease agreement. KKU leader Dhanwant Singh expressed concern over the power shortage during paddy transplantation season.
