Amritsar, June 2
THE NATIONWIDE strike by Air India sub-assistants is telling on operations at Rajasansi. Flight and cargo delays have been reported with the 50 sub assistants deployed at Rajasansi International Airport staying off work and staffs have been brought in from Delhi, it is learnt.
THE STAFF had gone on strike on Sunday, when their demands were not conceded. Akhil Sachdeva and Ranjit, who are among the striking staff, said there had been no salary raises for five years. “We don’t get PF and other perks. We have launched a peaceful, but determined protest.”
AIR INDIA, which operates international flights to London, Toronto, Dubai and other locations around the world from here, has been hard hit. Airline officials were incommunicado but sources confirmed delays at various levels.
