VB books Ch Jagjit, ex-deputy speaker

THE VIGILANCE Bureau today registered a case against eight persons, including former local bodies minister Ch Jagjit Singh, former Vidhan Sabha deputy speaker Darbari Lal and his two sons for allegedly raising an illegal structure in a prime location worth crores of rupees in Amritsar.
Addressing media persons here on Tuesday Vigilance Bureau SSP Suhkdev Singh, said, “As per the inquiry conducted by the Director, Local Bodies, the accused allegedly raised a structure on the 663 square yard area, Which was meant to be a green space.”
Detailing the sequence of events, the SSP, said,” As per the Scheme of the Municipal Corporation, this land in kichlu chowk was meant to be an open space. It was purchased by four persons Gurcharan Singh (currently an MC employee), Tajinder Singh Bawa, Tehal Inder Singh and Ajay kumar in 1988 and thereafter wrote the MC for permission to raise a building over this land. But the MC rejected the proposal.
