GREAT SINGER MOHAMMAD RAFI FROM AMRITSAR

Mohammad Rafi the greatest film playback singer, was born on December 24, 1924 in Kotla Sultan village of Amritsar. Mohd. Rafi started his film career by singing a Punjabi song,” Soniye Hiriye Teri Yaad ne Bahut Sataya” for the film Gul Baloch In 1944.

In 1948 when Mahatma Gandhi died Mohd. Rafi sang all times super hit song “Suno Ay Duniya Walo, Bapu ki yeh Amar Kahani”. This song was written Rajinder Krishen and music scored by Husan Lal Bhagatram.

Mohammad Rafi worked with all the music directors of his time his voice was so versatile that it suited for romantic as well as sad songs. His Bhajans are also equally popular. In his singing career of about 36 years he recorded about 40,000 songs in several languages.

On July 31, 1980 Mohd. Rafi could not survive a massive heart attack and left us forever but his melodious voice continue to haunt millions of music lovers even today.
